Monotonous Ads and The Same Themes.
Day After Day, The Same Ads and The Usual Characters and Themes.

Adverts have always been a mechanism for pushing a product. How a product is better than its rival, whatever that product may be. Ads years ago were often funny and were effective in their campaigns without pushing agendas as they do today. Ads today are so agenda-driven that minorities are overrepresented at the expense of others. Blacks, bearded people, LGBTQ, and people in mixed-race relationships seem to be the only game in town. Together with people's dull decor in their rooms and dull clothes to boot. Everything green and brown, so what we have in this world of ads is that there is no diversity in ads that are supposedly reflecting diversity.
Yes, it's good that people who were not formerly included in ads are included; however, it gets monotonous and boring. Maybe I miss the days when people in ads were white, clean-shaven, couples were men and women in the same race relationships. Call me bigoted or old-fashioned, I don't apologise for that. As a Christian, I recognise that all people are human regardless of who they choose to be in a relationship with, what their politics are, or their faith, their job, their car, their house, race, or nationality. However, that doesn't mean I have to agree with them, and equally, it is their right to disagree with me - fine.
It seems advertisers think that black, lgbtq, bearded people, people in mixed relationships, old people, fat people, etc, have chosen to reach out to these minorities. Why one has to wonder? Well, for some reason, those in charge of ads seem to think these people are the ones to advertise to. That's fair enough if you are trying to target certain demographics. But why those people and not others?
The UK is a majority white country where most of those whites marry their own race, don't all have beards, are not all black, are not all in mixed relationships, are not lgbtq. But to look at ads in Britain, you would think the country is composed of people like that, where no one else exists. And why are such people the dominant things in ads now? In a way, these ads are making people like the ones I've mentioned look stupid. Like, they cannot decide for themselves what products they want. Or is it a more woke agenda? A deliberate policy of eliminating certain people from ads and replacing them with others? Or is it that ad makers and the products they represent are scared of being called bigoted or unrepresentative? I suspect it is all of the above and more.
Yes, you can accuse ads in days of yore of being unrepresentative, and I get that. However, in trying to represent groups underrepresented, they have now ended up in exactly the same position. Where others are ignored or not seen as relevant. To pick certain groups over others is a conscious decision. In the world of advertising and mainstream media, in overthrowing the former narrative and replacing it with another narrative, ironically, we have ended up in the same world.
So, who is not represented much in today's ads? Straight people, blonde people, Eastern Europeans, Goths and other Alt people, and yes, white people. Goths are a subculture that should be represented. Straight people are the majority in the UK. Eastern Europeans are never represented and should be. People who shave should be represented, too. All people, regardless of who they are, should be heard. You hear the words equality and diversity thrown around today like thoughtless concepts. However, representing some groups and not others is not equality and diversity; in fact, it is the personification of everything these phrases do not stand for.
I think the cat has been let out of the bag. The stable door is open and has already bolted. The train has left the station. Where those represented feel represented, and those formerly represented feeling not represented. And groups never represented feeling resentful, they are never resented. What a conundrum we have created.
