Is Russia Washing Its Hands of Iran?
Will Russia Come to Iran's Aid?

As the Iranian Foreign Minister flies into Moscow, what's going to happen in light of the US's raid on Iranian nuclear facilities? Trump said "Bullseye", meaning the US raid, including B2 bombers dropping bunker buster bombs. Massive damage was done to these places, some buried deep in the mountains, with reinforced concrete. No munition could get to them, only the bunker buster bombs dropped by the USAF.
What will the Iranians do? It seems they will hit back, but when, how, and how it goes down remains to be seen. Iran and Israel are still trading blows, but if Iran hits American targets surrounding it, it will be a dangerous gamble. Trump has promised massive retaliation against the Islamic Republic, and it will happen. Whatever Iran does to get back at the USA, the abyss is staring Iran in the face. As Japan found out in WWII, once you awaken the fiery giant that is the US, it is a matter of time before you face ultimate doom.
Trump promised to be the man to end forever wars like Iraq and Afghanistan, which cost the US hundreds of lives and for what? Iraq is nominally free again, with a government of sorts and is mostly stable. Afghanistan, after twenty years of war between NATO Allies and the Taliban, is again ruled by the Taliban. After the US and its Allies fought the Taliban, the US and others pulled out of the country as the Taliban recaptured Afghanistan. This is undoubtedly a defeat for the West and will be recorded by historians as such.
Now, Trump has attacked Iran he has broken all of his promises of stopping foreign wars. America First is out the window as Trump is doing Netanyahu's bidding. Trump has been America First and Make America Great Again until it comes to Israel. A nation that has nuclear weapons that have never been inspected by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). A nation that is allowed to commit crimes against humanity and invade land and permanently occupy it. No other nation on Earth is allowed to get away with the things Israel has. The excuse for Israel's actions is self-defence, but Israel's actions have now gone beyond self-defence. Israel is acting like an imperial European power.
With the Iranian Foreign Minister going for talks with Putin, what's the purpose? Has he flown there at the behest of the Ayatollah for advice? For Russia to make good on its mutual treaty with Iran to supply weapons and other equipment? One clause missing from this agreement is that Russia or Iran would come to each other's aid if the other finds itself at war. Yes, Iran has been supplying Russia with military equipment, and Russia might help Iran in the same way in this conflict. However, as far as we know, there have been no Iranian boots on the ground helping Russia fight Ukraine. There are North Korean boots there and allegedly Chinese, but no Iranian.
Likewise, there will probably be no Russian boots on the ground or Russian planes in the sky defending Iran against the US or Israel. Russia may even wash its hands of Iran like it did with Bashar al-Assad of Syria. Russia took to its heels when the rebels took control of Damascus. Assad was given sanctuary in Russia. So will it abandon Iran to its fate, whatever that fate is. On the other hand, Russia may prop up Iran because if the regime falls, this is Russia's last close friend in the Middle East.
Putin has good relations with Israel as well as Iran. Putin more or less said that one reason why Russia may not intervene militarily to help Iran is that Israel has many Russians living there. Russian Jews, in their thousands, who went to live in Israel and left Russia a few years ago.
Many Russians feel Putin should intervene to protect an ally, but for now, Putin is watching from the sidelines.
