If Anything Happens to Me: Lancaster County Is Trying to Kill Me
By Sunshine Firecracker (Jennifer Gayle Sappington, J.D.)

The Warning I Have to Leave Behind
I admit it, I'm afraid they gonna kill me for this. -Tom MacDonald
If you are reading this, it means the danger I’ve been living with is no longer hypothetical. I am a lawyer, a survivor, and a writer. My work has pulled back the curtain on corruption in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania—corruption that runs through the Sheriff’s Department, county commissioners, judges, and the solicitor’s office.
They’ve already stolen my home, my safety, and my health. They have used the courts and police not as instruments of justice, but as weapons of oppression. And now, by exposing them further, I know I have painted a target on my back.
Like Tom MacDonald and Nova Rockafeller warned in “Trying to Kill Me”:
They gonna put me in a grave for the lyrics I spit. -Tom MacDonald
That lyric isn’t metaphor for me—it’s prophecy.
The Evidence They Don’t Want You to See
- Thousands of mostly minority defendants in Lancaster County were illegally overbilled for services the Sheriff’s Department never performed.
- The emails I’ve uncovered show that the Sheriff, the County Commissioner, judges, and the Solicitor all knew about it—and held secret meetings to discuss how to keep the money flowing.
- The County Solicitor even questioned the legal authority for the fees, yet allowed the scheme to continue.
- Instead of fixing the problem, they conspired to shut down alternatives, ensuring defendants had no way to escape unlawful charges.
This isn’t sloppy governance. It’s organized corruption.
And when I started piecing it together, I began to feel the shadow of retaliation—selective enforcement, illegal evictions, misuse of involuntary commitments. They’ve tried to silence me before.
Why I Am Publishing This Now
I’m writing this not just as testimony, but as insurance. If anything happens to me—if I am jailed on false charges, if I am silenced, if I simply disappear—know this:
It wasn’t random. It wasn’t an accident.
It was Lancaster County.
Tom MacDonald said it best:
“If I die it was Big Pharma or Government.” -Sunshine Firecracker
Publishing this is my shield. By making this story public, I take away their ability to bury me quietly.
The Larger Battle
This isn’t just about me. It’s about every defendant—especially poor and minority residents of Lancaster County—who were squeezed for money through fraudulent fees. It’s about every survivor of official oppression who has been told their pain doesn’t matter.
This is about a justice system that forgot its name.
And it’s about the power of truth, faith, and resilience. I believe light exposes darkness, and music carries truth farther than courts sometimes can. That’s why I anchor my story in #TruthInMusic, because the lyrics that carried me through also carry warning for the world.
Call to Action
If I cannot fight this battle, I ask you—my readers, my allies, my fellow survivors—to carry it forward. Share this article. Demand accountability. Contact the FBI Civil Rights Division. Hold Lancaster County leaders to the law they swore to uphold.
They may try to kill me. But they cannot kill the truth.
