I Have To Ask, Why Now?

So much hate in the country I call home right now. The country divided now more then it has been in years. And why? That is the big question. But I have several other questions.

I was talking to a friend the other day and we are on opposite sides. She despises Trump and all he stands for. She was reading an argument I was having with a lady on social media and said to me “you have some valid points so let me ask you to explain your beliefs to me.” I was a little shocked because she knows I’m not one to hold back but I am respectful when talking to a friend. So, I agreed.

I started by telling her I’m sure some of the things I say will piss you off, and I apologize for that upfront, it’s my feeling and my opinion. We are both adults and friends I wanted this to be a respectful talk.

I told her I don’t normally follow politics, it’s not my thing, but this election has had me so stressed to the point of being physically ill. That was due to if the outcome of Biden winning, like he did, we will be saying good-bye to many of the freedoms we take for granted.

When Trump ran against Hilary Clinton, I definitely didn’t want Clinton. Did I think Trump was the answer, yes and no. He wasn’t a career politician, but did I think he was going to thrust us into World War III, absolutely. But maybe that’s what we needed at the time. We definitely needed someone who would stand up for America. And Trump did that. Do I agree with everything Trump has said or done, no. But I am not going to agree with anyone 100% of the time. I don’t even agree with myself 100% of the time. But while Trump has been in office, unemployment is at it’s lowest it’s been in years and when I say years, I mean YEARS. He lowered taxes and gave tax breaks to the American People and not just those in upper class society. I know for me personally who is far from being upper class that my taxes were lowered. He started bringing jobs back to the USA, then COVID happened and things came to a halt. He was blamed for COVID having such a hard hit on the USA, but he wanted to do something when it first started and was told by Fauci ”this not a major threat for the people of the United States, and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about.” Anytime Trump tried doing something good for the country it’s was stopped or overshadowed by the long-drawn out Impeachment process that failed.

Now we have 9 days until Biden takes office. And they are worried about impeaching Trump again. Why? What’s the point? There are 9 days left. He’s not going to the Inauguration, he said it would be a smooth transition. To waste more taxpayers dollars?

We are already losing our freedom of speech. Social media platforms are dictating what can be posted and said and if you go against what they believe you get suspended or banned. I’m not just talking about President Trump and his group here. I’ve had friends who post and have been suspended and banned. I myself have been warned that what I am posting on my page is going to get me in trouble. So, I ask if they can take away my freedom of speech, what else do you think they are going to take away? Losing freedom of speech will result in loss of freedom of religion. They have been after our guns for a while. They are afraid of an uprising where we take our country back from corrupt politicians. They could have possibly rigged this election because they have been trying to get rid of Trump since day one of him taking office so they can take our right to vote away. Your privacy rights are already gone. Anytime you do anything online, it’s tracked. You search something and so many ads for that search start popping up and emails start rolling in. That’s just the beginning.

I will start this topic by saying I don’t condone what happened at the Capital Building, but I’m also going to respect the people that were involved and killed no matter what side they were on. This summer there were “protests” all over the nation where people where burning down cities and killing people including law enforcement. These were considered “protests” even though they were encouraged by people holding high offices in the Democrat Party. The President and other Republican’s ask people to hold a protest at the Capital in support of him, and it starts out peaceful. Unfortunately, it turned chaotic and ended with deaths, but that’s being called an act of Domestic Terrorism. Videos shot by people in the protest show the Capital Police holding doors open to the Capital Building, standing there as people file into the building, and taking selfies with the protesters. How did things get so out of hand? We won’t know the answer because it will be covered up like so many other things, but I have to sit back and ask was this a planned sabotage on this protest to really divide this country even more. So, my question here is how is this an act of terrorism, but everything over the summer isn’t? Is it because of the political party that is involved?

I don’t belong to either party. I go for the best qualified candidate.

So, after my long rambling on, my friend said they better understood where I was coming from and that I gave them more to look at and think about. I know I didn’t convert them to my way of thinking, but at least they understand it a little better. I wish more people could take the time to understand how someone is thinking rather then spew the hatred for thinking differently them. They were given the option to help me understand their side and they said that was for another time, so maybe I will have that conversation for another time.
