Chuckle Brothers of Decline.

Sir Keir Names The Double-Act of Disaster.

Hunt and Sunak.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt backed by His Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, unveiled the Budget. And there was nothing much to say about it, except it was more of the same Tory twaddle.

Sir Keir Starmer described it as "the last desperate act of a party that has failed". Sir Keir branded Sunak and Hunt "The Chuckle Brothers of decline".

The Labour Leader criticised the Chancellor and Prime Minister for presiding over a recession. Also on their watch "The highest tax burden to give with one hand and take even more with the other". Sir Keir called the budget "A short-term, cynical political gimmick" - adding there was not a "more obvious example of a government that is totally bereft of ideas".

Sir Keir said Jeremy Hunt "breezes into the chamber in a recession and tells people of this country that everything is on track". Sir Keir also addresses Sunak in the same way. Saying "Rishi Sunak pretends everything is fine, nothing to see here, move on"! Sir Keir belittled Sunak and Hunt's attitude saying "Crisis? What crisis or as the Captain of the Titanic said "Iceberg? What Iceberg"?

Joking aside, Sir Keir said Britain deserved better than a "Rishi recession" and claimed the Tories had "Maxed out the nation's credit card".

The Labour Leader then called on Sunak and Hunt to stop dithering. To confirm if there will be a general election in May. Sir Keir said "It's time to break the habit of 14 years - stop the dithering!

The Tories themselves know that this will be the last budget this side of a general election. And after the general election, whenever it is called if not May, more than likely Sunak and Hunt will not be occupying No 10 and No 11 Downing Street. If polls are to be believed then Sir Keir Starmer will be Prime Minister (in No 10) and Rachel Reeves (N0 11) as Chancellor. And what a mess they will inherit. A broken migration/immigration system, NHS buckling, totally unfair welfare system, cost of living crisis, two ongoing wars (Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Palestine), poverty, homelessness. That is why Labour must and I say 'MUST' in capital letters hit the ground running. This broken, busted, wrecked, nation called the UK must be rescued and repaired. Labour must have and hopefully, will have, the policies to do this.

14 years is too long for any administration no matter what party. But it seems whenever the Tories are in things go from bad to worse. I am old enough to remember Margaret Thatcher who was succeeded by John Major. There were many issues in the 80s and 90s that Thatcher brought upon the nation. Whole industries were destroyed and unemployment climbed to 4 million. Under Thatcher, we fought a war for the Falklands with Argentina. Thatcher's rule lasted until 1990 on the brink of the first Gulf War. Then she was ousted by Her own ministers and replaced by John Major. Things were certainly bad under Thatcher, however, in comparison to this Tory lot, Thatcher was a saint! (And I don't say that easily!).

Never in the history of post-war administrations can there have been such an inept government. Such an out-of-touch, corrupt, useless, good-for- nothing shower of so-called representatives of the people. 5 Prime Ministers and other witless, hapless, prominent ministers. Now we have a double act certainly not in the likeness of other comedy duos that made us laugh. Indeed, with Messers Sunak and Hunt, it is the reverse, they are laughing at us, and the laugh is on us. As Sir Keir rightly observed Sunak and Hunt are indeed, the Chuckle Brothers of decline!
