NFT and the Digital Baseball Card Revolution
You heard me. Digital Baseball Card. This is what I call them now.

You heard me. Digital Baseball Card. This is what I call them now.
NFTs, or "Nonfungible Tokens", are the exact words.
Digital Baseball Cards are a great analogy. I feel both awesome and like a salesperson for distilling NFTs down to a digital version of a baseball card.
NFTs can have great potential and can make a significant impact. NFTs can be used to give people the opportunity to plant trees and sequester carbon, or to help individuals in third world countries to monetize their creativity. Even online recording of title, county, or state records is being discussed to reduce red tape in tax collection and record keeping. Blockchain technology, Cryptocurrency and NFTs are revolutionizing the game and ensuring equal playing fields. At least that's what the promises are.
NFTs are currently a 95% hype trade around a potentially useless asset that is taking advantage the "Greater Fool". So long as there's a larger fool willing to purchase this worthless digital asset... YES. It's unique, on the blockchain and you own it alone, but it's still a piece. ?
That's exactly what I believed. When I started the game, that was what I thought. This magical universe that we live in has a different plan. A plan that has had me go from owning nearly 0 OpenSea NFTs, to now having over 600+ and still buying/selling/trading on the daily.
How the hell did I "APE in" to so many NFTs within such a short time period (600 NFTS is 60 days, 10 NFTs/day)? )?
All this begins with my friend Cyrus Abrahim.
I met him at Decentralized social (DeSo) Blockchain. After working with me for a while, he decided that he would use the DeSo knowledge to participate in the OpenSea Ethereum-based NFTs.
Cyrus was appointed Community Manager for the Meka Ape Club Discord. A 3d ape project that builds on the success of Bored Ape Yacht Club. However, it has art that is next-level with 3d Apes that unlock an amazing metaverse game (in future!) Where you can use your peas. Because I believe in Cyrus, and I wanted to support him, I bought one for.11ETH (or about $350 at the time of the purchase) plus transaction fees. The total cost was approximately $500
After some time, I began to wonder if there was any value in owning this Ape. I want to know how do I determine if the Ape appreciates in value. After visiting OpenSea and looking at the activity feed, I decided that it was worth listing for sale at the floor price of.15ETH. It made me wonder if I should tell others to buy it. Tweet me about your ape! Etc... Nope. This is not the case. It was listed at the "floor price", and I was able to sell it within hours. After the transaction fees and royalties, my Ape was almost gone. Once I experienced the sensation of buying, selling and seeing the ETH in the wallet, it was addictive. I was hooked.
But, wait! There's more.
That day I am riding in my LYFT rideshare to pick up a new Tesla that I purchased. My driver was great and we had a conversation about my favorite topic... Crypto !".... Then, we moved on to NFT discussions. I explained to him that I had bought an NFT and then sold it. I was almost broke even. Even though I didn’t make a profit, I trusted this system because I was able get my money back.
You can also join the discord community to discuss the NFT project, as well as the active buyers and potential buyers when you buy an NFT. Verified holders of the NFT receive a special color beside their names. It's like joining an exclusive group. I loved the idea of a Meka Ape community in Discord, where everyone was excitedly working together to bring more buyers into the Meke Ape program and the community.
Now, let's get back to the Lyft ride.
A friend called me, and I answered the call. While on my call, my Lyft driver opened Discord on his iPhone... I then saw him talking in a particular room. Meka Ape" in the chat. WTF?! Are you dreaming? !
Literally, the Meka Ape Club Discord had been open and my driver was a Meka Ape Holder. Seriously? Lyft offers me a limited edition 5600 Meka Ape and then gives me a driver who also has this project. What are the odds? Perhaps Lyft is monitoring my data, including my wallet, and matching me with people who might be a good match for me. Perhaps I digress.
No matter the reason, it was a divine call for me to explore NFTs. I mean, it was full-on Ape-in. Since then I've bought every type of Ape... from Meka Ape to Prime Ape Pap Planet to Bored Ape yacht Club (yep, it happened!). I KONG'd in the Supreme Kong project. I have never seen an online community as active as the Supreme Kong Discord. My mind is literally blown by NFTs and their possibility.
Now, I trade digital baseball cards and build new tech ventures in both the Gift Economy and LOHAS industries. NFTs are a topic that I am excited about, but my current focus is on activating community. How to make these digital assets truly useful so that all holders can rise together (literally, the floor price!) As the community grows and strengthens.
In the coming weeks and months, I will be posting more on Medium. Follow me on Twitter to see my most recent posts. You can read the comments to find out how Hypey or Vibe-y the Supreme Kong Community is.
Thank you for reading this far. Please comment below if there are any comments or questions. This will allow me to support the community more in the weeks and months ahead.
Enjoy the new world... We are just beginning!
