Truth, Lies, and Mental Illness
Some things are better left unsaid. But which things? And said, or unsaid, to whom? Figuring out how much of our deepest inner workings we should disclose to others can be difficult at the best of times, but there's a whole other layer of complexity when there's mental illness involved.

I'm Still Learning
It's after 1 AM on a Thursday night (I guess it's technically Friday now), and I'm still awake. No, I'm not drunk or doing work. I'm actually procrastinating all of my work if I'm being honest. No, right now I'm just sad. I couldn't tell you why, but I am. Not the scary or crazy kind of sad, just a little bit sad. And you now what? That's okay.

How Music Connects to Our Sadness
As a person suffering from depression myself, I understand how hard it is to feel like nobody is on your side. I have felt I do not have many people to turn to that I can fully trust with my issues. The people I have trusted my problems with have complained about how I was using them as some sort of outlet to dump everything on. So instead, I decided to turn to music. I am not very good at making music, but I occasionally just make little snippets of songs that probably will not get anywhere, but they make me feel better, personally. It does not necessarily have to be sad, but incorporating sadness in it helps channel the emotions in a healthy way. Because of this, music has made a huge impact on my life, and that is only one reason of many as to why I believe music can help with depression.

The Narcissistic Smear Campaign
There is only one type of person that creates smear campaigns, a character disturbed individual. Think about it for a moment. Have you ever thought, even once, to intentionally humiliate, embarrass or impact the view of a person’s supports by contacting them and saying false things about a friend, family member or loved one? If the answer is “no” it is because you are not character disturbed. This behavioral trait is a hallmark of narcissistic personality disorder and sociopaths/psychopaths but is also seen in other character disturbances.

Who Needs a Therapist When (Pt. 19)
So, as some background here: I have an uncle who suffers from schizophrenia. His illness is well-treated, and he lives well enough, though he isn't able to live independently. My mother once told me that his provider was concerned that his schizophrenia was actually a particularly severe psychotic depression combined with a low IQ. After all, though he is paranoid about the government, he never really felt that he was receiving secret messages. Instead, his fixation was on how awful things are. On how garbage the government is, on how much they don't care about the wellbeing of people. On how awful life often is.
