Dissociative Identity Disorder Art Analysis
Digital Art Analysis Within this piece, all the personalities are connected through tiny colorful lines, similar to chromosomes. In the center of the broken pieces is a child crying, representing the emotional effects of repeated sexual trauma. DID rises from repeated sexual abuse over childhood from ages 4-9. DID cannot develop later in life, for an individual's personality to fracture the abuse must be during early childhood. In this diagram all alters are represented as human but in the majority of cases, systems can include non-human alters. The sentence in the piece states “We are more than our pieces, but together we make a whole”, which is the basis for DID. Alters initially appear because of “an elaborate form of denial [do to trauma] so that the child believes the event to be happening to someone else”(Gillig, 3); so the mind fractures to protect itself, developing alters who can endure the trauma. For example if an individual was abused by being treated like a dog, a dog or dog-like alter may appear to face the abuse (Alters in Dissociative…). Through fracturing the mind creates a systems of alters who each have their own role to protect the body, without one the rest could not function so together they make a whole. However, while the alters are not represented as non-human in this piece, the personalities are illustrated with different ethnicities, ages, and gender. Alters can develop as any ethnicity, gender, or age depending on the trauma and how the brain attempts to protect itself.

Transformation from being revengeful to being peaceful
Nowadays, most of the people believe in revenge and have a tit-for-tat mindset. I also learned the same from society to take revenge if someone hurts us. I learned that if someone hurt us, then we have to act in the same way to take revenge. It is no doubt true that after taking revenge it feels good but not every battle is worth fighting for. I still remember that I had revenge feeling inside my heart, and it had consumed a lot of time and energy. I will share the story about how I become aware that I have a tit-for-tat mindset and how my mother helped me in changing my mindset.

Once Lost & Now Reborn
How is it possible that you can go ahead in your life and not care about your first child. If things were different would you have changed anything? Would you have cared just a little about me if anything happened in my life. Did you think your life would’ve been any different if you didn't have me. Did you even want me in your life? Did you even think I wasn't meant to be in this world? Did you love me? As many times as you’ll tell me you love me, but it’s hard to believe. You were never there when the biggest struggle in my life happened, where I never got support for. As a child you never asked me how I felt or what was crossing my mind. I was just a kid. Did you ever see me scared? Did you ever tell me “sweetie its ok let's get out of here”. Did you ever realize my hurt? Why did you ever think that I never needed you. Did you ever think that I wasn't ever important to you. I'm just a child, I never got an addiction to anything. The only addiction or obsession I wanted was a mother’s love.

Songwriting: the soundtrack to my life
You know what they say, what's bad for your heart is good for your art. For me, that’s always been true, and a silver lining of life’s tough experiences has been getting to take the pain and transform it into a story that other people can connect with and feel seen and heard within. I believe everyone has this gift, and that’s why art in all shapes and forms has an intangible value and quality to it that can’t be measured or put into words. Instead, it can only be felt.
