You look down. Watching the water drip down like a raindrop on a window. You look at the clock, 10:30pm. You already had dinner but boredom sneaks up & what follows is the craving. The mental urge to indulge & consume substances for that one hit of dopamine. The idea of a drug that consumes the mind but you try to justify your actions. Its said that a small satisfaction of one bite will justify the craving but then one bite becomes a multitude of bites.
Those bites become a meal & that meal can escalate to more. Before you know it, you have devoured a whole container of ice cream. That one bite opened the doors for more. Your brain liked what was being served so it changes into a buffet and loss of control is eminent.
"It's been 5hrs & still not enough likes to hit the front page. Should I show more skin or should reveal a secret that nobody should know?" You flip through images & you see all your images to be the same or similar in every way so you decide to have a mini photo shoot. You use a green screen to manipulate what people believe to think where you are. Prioritization for the need for cravings of validation of your work & yourself.
Looking up current trends or seeing what people like to adjust yourself for that craving of validation & acceptance. The self-satisfaction of ratification are searched for to feed that craving. Like ice cream, you keep eating. Overcome with the craving of satisfaction, you feed yourself with the gluttony of despair.
Cravings are sudden bursts of magnetic energy that attracts you for satisfaction. A sense of need to fuel the cognitive brain of the feel good factors. Varying in a plethora of ways. Sometimes called munchies when referring to food, cravings tell you that you want to feel good. That hidden need to find whatever to make you feel good. In the quickest way possible to cater to that craving & discover the easiest way to please that.
Greatly connected with addiction & obsession., cravings sometimes can feel like the controllable thing that can bring you that feeling of satisfaction. Constantly searching for gratification, sometimes a strong will & stubbornness can keep the cravings at bay but what are you to do you're human. Like a personal trainer teaching you how to love your body more & help you to practice ways to eat right.
You practice good habits to support those cravings & replace them with distractions, so they can go away. Sometimes they are too strong but you learn to fight them because those cravings will solely last for a short period. Cravings are temporary & they will take space in your psyche enough for you to get that thrill or feel good moment so can continue one but remember that too much giving in to those cravings can lead to addiction which isn't good.
Like an inch that needs to be scratched, cravings that boosted your levels until you no longer do so. A mental itch that needs to be rubbed off. Like a pet animal that enjoys getting pet behind the ears. That subtle (sometimes not subtle) fix that makes it so hard to stop. The "Hannibal Lector" to the Norman Bates. From Garfield the Cat & Lasagna to Vampires thirst for blood, cravings effects us all but it does not mean we adhere to these cravings.
The cravings stem from inner purge. A want or a wish for something to be received or consumed. Going into our cravings & desires we release ourselves to be engulfed by these emotions. Sometimes good & sometimes bad, knowing when to give in & to pleasure the craving helps deviant control. Having such restraint for yourself & ability to not deviate these cravings when they happen but have the tools & knowledge to change your surroundings & mindset to make these cravings subside.
