Stop Allowing Fear to Drive the Bus and See What's Possible For You

One of my core wounds is Fear of Abandonment

As someone who has overcome severe depression, yeah duh I struggle with fear. Who doesn't?

Fear and other negative emotions like guilt and shame can be powerful indicators when noticed and addressed.

However, when we let them fester and we ruminate on these illusions we create momentum in the direction running counter to our goals and dreams.

Facing your fears is never a walk in the park or something we look forward to, but it doesn't have cripple you from living the life you want and deserve.

That's the beauty and the parodox of it all. When you choose to be present and aware with these uncomfortable feelings and thoughts you create new neural pathways that will override past programming that has kept you stuck for fear of the unknown.

So you rather stay where where you're at because of fear of the unknown - Like a job you hate, a relationship that you tolerate... Can you relate?

Sometimes, you can't change the situation right away but you can definitely change how you see things and leverage your options from there.

I offer you a practice to Befriend Fear and make it your B*tch.

Ok how about giving fear a new role; say as your friend, your informant, a trusted companion - instead of a heavy chain around your neck dragging you down and holding you back from living your most authentic joyful abundant life?!

  1. Name it - When you feel afraid of something simply say 'Oh hey Fear, there you are.'
  2. Feel it - Instead of denying it, judging it and stuffing it down take a quick note of how you feel. What happens to your body when you feel afraid? Observe those repetive thoughts, write them down to create more space.
  3. Thank it - Simply thank Fear for showing up, they are meant to protect you but how often is your life truly in danger at that moment...
  4. Transform + Elevate it - What feels authentic in the moment? Sometimes just being aware is more than enough. Other times you can choose to be playful and silly. You can feel brave and powerful since you chose to do something different by seeing your fears and releasing all judgment and resistance.

As always, have fun with your practices. The point is to experiment and enjoy the process of learning yourself and evolving.

I share this with you from a place of vulnerability and a rather primal place. No rules. No edits. No one I am writing for. I do a meditation and breathwork practice and then tune into the topic I want to go deeper on. This one is obviously fear.

What the f*ck is the concept of enoughness?

Do we all struggle with it?

Is it just me?

I am so f*cking tired

I want to get off the swing

The highs and lows

I have upped my faith game and it still feels - you guessed it

Not f*cking enough

What does this fear of not enoughness smell like?

It stinks of old

It stinks of not mine yet it feels like mine

It reeks of heaviness holding me down

Until I finally die

Suffocate

Until all the fears my mind projects come true

That’s what fear is right

Worry and anxiety about the uncontrollable

The future

The unknown

I feel black and blue

Purple bruises all over my body

My heart

My mind

I am tired

I have surrendered

I give up

I lay it all down

Whoever is out there

Please help me

Please help us all who struggle with this

Insidious and shameful feeling

Of I don’t have enough time

Money

Whatever it is we think we need more of

Shrouds what is already present

Let’s get off the swing

And jump into the arms of the great unknown.

How to Set Yourself Up for the Meditation:

Start by carving out at least 20 minutes for yourself. You can do this if you want to and you deserve it.

It doesn't need to be elaborate. Whatever helps you to make it happen. You can have your fur babies and your real babies with you if needed ;)

I highly recommend lying down and setting yourself up in a cozy nest. Perhaps your favorite blankets, scents, oils, candles and whatever helps you create an atmosphere of peace and serenity.

Benefits of the Practice:

No one to please, nothing to do: Don't we all just want to remember that as adults, yes we can relax like it's the first day of summer vacation every day?! You can feel however you choose and handle your to-do list like a boss. Everyone around you will be like whaaaat? Why are they so chill?! And voila everyone is chill and everything is handled. What would that be like? Knowing it's all handled, you are on the other side. It was so easy, so chill!

Acknowledgment: Welcome everything as it is. Nothing to fix/change/judge or analyze. Give your brain, immune and nervous system a chance to relax and reboot.

A spa session anytime, anyplace - for free! Yes, feel the benefits of escaping to your favorite spot in nature or having a spa session just for you! That sense of deep relaxation and just allowing thoughts and things to just drip off you. Yes, this is possible!

Feel grounded + inspired: As humans, when things feel uncertain we need to feel safe and secure. Learn how to create these feelings no matter what is going on around you. We are designed to create - if you are not expressing yourself authentically and creating your own unique way; you may feel stagnant which can lead to physical issues like depression and auto-immune diseases because thought loops in your head become denser and negative if you aren't allowing them to be seen, felt, and released.

Power is in the present moment: This is the bread + butter of mindfulness meditation. Life is a moving meditation. Be here now. Not in the past, not in the future - Master welcoming it all and remebering your power to choose peace now no matter what is going on around you.
