What Word Inspires Your Goals For 2025?

Last week on a thread in Queer Vocal Voices, we asked you to list one word that drives, inspires, or motivates you to work on your goals for 2025. That word is the cornerstone of the challenge. (That is fine if you haven’t listed a word in that thread. Just choose a word that inspires, drives, or motivates you to complete your goals.) Queer Vocal Voices is a separate group for LGBTQIA+ creators on Vocal. It can be found here:

Make the word you used your title. In the piece, define that word. Then, explain what it means to you.

Here is where you get to write about your goals. Outline your goals in 2025 and specifically how they relate to the word you chose.

Let me give you a basic example. Let’s say I chose kindness. I would write about what kindness means and how it would inspire or drive accomplishing my goals. One of my goals could be to be more loving. I would then explain how kindness will help achieve that goal. Another goal of mine may be to be more caring and gentle with myself. I would explain how kindness inspires that goal. Are you with me so far?

This is a good exercise (Thanks, Oneg!) to write about our goals or what we want to accomplish in the new year, keeping that one word in mind.

About the Challenge

There is no minimum word count. Your piece must be published in the PRIDE community.

It will be community voting. As a disclosure, the admins will also be participating in the challenge. We usually sit them out, but since it is community voting, we are in on this one.

First place will receive five dollars in the form of a tip. You will also be featured for an entire day in our group.

Second place will receive three dollars in the form of a tip. You will also be featured for an entire day in our group.

Third place will receive two dollars in the form of a tip. You will also be featured for an entire day in our group.

The deadline for submission is midnight EST on January 31st. Community judging will take place the week after.
