Standing there,
On the edge,
Wanting to jump off,
Willing to leap with faith.
But only her heart does,
Her brain doesn’t want to leave her head,
Legs will not move,
Distrust is all her stomach saith.
But voices are crying out behind her,
The handle is in her hand,
Carabiners secure her to the cords,
So she jumps and screams like a wraith.

Ever since discovering Roald Dahl, I wanted to be an author who would delight and move her readers through her stories. I also wrote my debut novel, "Of Demons and Deception" on Amazon.

This was a great idea for the challenge. I like how her wants changed as she stood there. The imagery of her brain not wanting to leave her head. Was fantastic. It's like the brain became way too logical. Creating the worst scenarios. Then the people behind her, waiting for her to do it. It makes me feel like I am the one in her place. This was lovely Rebecca 🤗❤️
I FELT this in my gut ☺
Just recommended this for a Top Story in RYV here https://shopping-feedback.today/resources/raise-your-voice-thread-08-28-2025%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
I have severe phobia of heights so I would never do this hehehe. Loved your poem!
I love how you’ve captured that clash between fear and courage so vividly!
We as a Palestinian people our voices always crying for excuse our fact in the life. Thank for your nice story ❤️
Ah that bit when you let yourself go and trust to the wire
I love how you described this all. It made it feel real to me. But in all honesty I am a real chicken I would never have the guts to try zip gliding. I won’t even get on an airplane.
