My Day

Somewhere Between Here and There

The pen is in my hand,

Black words have been written,

Staring at me from the lined paper,

Begging,

Begging me to write more,

But can I?

It is still too new,

Too raw for me,

I am embarrassed and ashamed,

Wanting,

Wanting to stop here,

So my pen stays still.

But I shake my head,

Move my hand,

Then the music calls me,

Willing me to get lost in it,

To close my eyes,

To daydream,

Threatening,

Threatening to stop my journal entry,

For good.

It wouldn't benefit me though,

Or my curious future children,

So I open my eyes,

Breathe,

Breathe in and out,

And write about my day.
