You're Born to Win
What happens to a dream deferred? -Langston Hughes
It's there.
It's there when you smile.
It's in the sound of your laugh - with only you knowing it's not sincere.
It's there.
It's there every night as you cry yourself to sleep wishing the mediocrity of tomorrow would never have to be.
'What happens to a dream deferred?' Does it shrivel up and die?
It's in your voice when answering (dreading to be asked), 'How are you?' - knowing you'll lie ...
with the dream within you screaming, "Let me out. RISE!"
It's in the hug you give to the ones you love the most - the smile, the laugh, the love, your breath. The only reason you took that first step.
It's there.
What happens to a dream deferred?
It lives.
And every day it reminds me why I am (why am I?) still alive.
