Withering Away

I need closure

By Hasan RazaPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Lives

Consuming with extreme heat

like unattended cigarettes in an ashtray.

Wavering on the edge of breakdown.

Taking steps to fall into the chasm

of squandered obscurity,

leaving only a path of dispersed remains,

destined to be sucked into a vacuum.

The cloudy atmosphere of forgetfulness obscures the future.

Simple indifference dimmed the present.

Foul smell of past choices made.

Stifling outcomes

also, hacking up the remaining parts of what used to be.

Fingers with stains.

Souls stained.

anger has darkened their hearts.

Lungs that had spent years living in an ashtray, huddled together with the useless filters of existence, had turned black.

In a sea of bitter ashes, everyone is drowning.

Choking on recollections of the bit of sweet lips,

at absolutely no point ever to be contacted in the future.

Just sat there with those filtered, wasted nothings, dreading (or perhaps anticipating) their eventual disposal as the garbage they are and will always be.

Tossed into the always expanding quantities of lost spirits

in the place that is known for nobody cares a lot.
