"beware the frost"
I've heard some say
but I'm ready for that bitch
to bury for good
the things I've lost
and burn that fuckin' bridge
let the drizzle penetrate it good
freeze it right down to the stem
devour every single inch
don't want to be misunderstood
winter is coming, a cold hard freeze
bringing it's magical, deep sleep
dipping well below life's warm degrees
across it's landscape slowly creeps
encasing to exterminate
weeding out the ailing seed
leaving no doubt you've been terminated
disposing the unwanted weed
in case you missed the message
let me make it crystal clear
you're an unwanted, useless appendage
that the frost makes disappear

Powerful...
This has quite a punch. I love it!
Whoaaaa, that hit me so hard! So well done!
Whoa, Kelli. This is one powerful poem. The righteous indignation is palpable! I could teach a class on your use of imagery and metaphor in this one! I recited it out loud to let the bite and claw in each line really ring. Amazing and contrarian entry to the challenge!
Harsh yet it has a ring of truth to it as well Unforgiving some might say
Good work on showing the harshness of the winter season.
Wow, this is dramatically perfect!
