Where Does the Trash Go

A Poem

Where does the trash go

Down into the depths

Or off to the shallows

We will never know

It leaves our home for the curb

But once there

Nothing more from it will be heard

It goes on journeys and quests

To strange lands

Exchanged from one hand to another

Passed from brother to brother

Over rolling mountains

Into tumbling seas

We do not care where it goes

So long as we never see

Living in blissful ignorance

That we are erasing our world

One heap at a time

Because we sleep

So long as it’s not on our mind
