Where are the nice men ?

I look but fail to find one anywhere

Where are the nice men ?

Where did all the nice men go

The ones who smiled without schemes

Who listened and laughed with ease

Who held a hand without asking for more

They walked through doors I could not follow

Spoke words that felt like warmth

Felt like home in a world that forgot

How to be gentle, how to be kind

Now the streets are full of voices

Sharp, loud, empty of care

I search in cafés, in bus lines, in corners

For a look that is honest, a heart that cares.

Where did all the nice men go

I still hope they are somewhere

Waiting for someone who notices

Waiting to be seen

Where did all the nice men go

I want the ones who are honest

The ones who are quiet, real, simple

The ones who still exist out there

They do exist but are usually tucked away doing good things, so as Mike says, they are not easily noticed.

  • One of the problems is that sometimes the nice men are boring, and so are not seen by those looking for them. Some great thoughts in your words
