When You Took Your Mask Off

Your Soul For All to See

There was a time when I trusted everything you said

I had believed you hung the moon and stars up in the sky

Gladly, would I have followed you to the ends of the earth

It’s true, I put you on top of a marble pedestal way up high

Never thinking you were a forked-tongued serpent in disguise

Every word you spoke was nothing but a bald-faced lie

Infiltrating yourself smoothly into my peaceful life

You began to turn my little world completely awry

Only to stab me in my exposed back when I least expected it

Then to have you gaslight me until I break and cry

Impersonating as a confidante to gain my trust

You spread rumors like a vulture spreads its wings to fly

Your cruel love was a very special type of hate

It would not stop until you had bled me dry

Always taking advantage of my kindness and generosity

You professed that of course, you were the good guy

You declared to me that my creativity amazed you

All the while, you’re telling others, “Why does she even try?”

I would have bent over backwards to help you out of a tight spot

But now I would only serve you a great big shit pie

You tried to make me out to be the one that’s all a mess

In reality, your life is the one that’s all pigsty

So, as I watch you make a big old dunce of yourself

I take in a great big breath and let out a sigh

I know you think I won’t say a word to anyone

But keep fooling yourself, I’m not at all shy

I’ll kick your ass out the door

As I scream goodbye

You thought you were cool

By stabbing me in the back

And spreading rumors

You thought I was dumb

When I blindly believed all

The things your mask showed

But you're the asshole

In this story, so you know

You’re the ugly one

Not sure if I can say I like it because what's there to like in such a person? But it's relatable and well-written, most of us had at least one such person in their lives.

Wow, Combs... this touches me on a different level. I'm so sorry. I wish I could give you a hug 💝

I love the spite in this MC, it's a different vibe than you usually do. My favourite is the asshole haiku! I won't assume it's autobiographical. But if is... send a signal and I'll add a name to my hit list!! 😉
