When Hatred Rules
Holding On to Hate, Letting Go of Love
You have your reasons
Nobody questions that
You have your stories
We all heard it
You have your sentiments
Some believe it
~
With all your traumas
Turning your life into drama
With excruciating pain
It became your refrain
You’re forced to live with it
With your hands unfit
~
Disappointment from your parents
Even unsupportive colleagues
Your friends aren’t there for you
Your lover can’t understand you
You’re in your own world
It became you against the world
Or so you thought
~
And that’s your choice
That’s what you want to believe
To justify your actions
To give meaning to your words
For sometimes, they lost their meaning
~
You’re disappointed in your parents
From their actions and decisions
But you’re forgetting, who first supported yours?
~
You’re angry with your colleagues
For not believing in you
Did you even plan to listen to them?
~
You’re bitter to your friends
For not being there
But are you even a friend to yourself?
~
You have fight for breakfast with your beloved
For respect and love have left the table.
Did you notice it?
~
Watch out for your resentment.
~
Your pride might befriend your hatred
It’s a dangerous combination
Leading towards obliteration
~~
"Hatred is a feeling which leads to the extinction of values.”
-Jose Ortega Y Gasset

So, we must sit in solitude and reflect on our behaviors. Wisdom-filled poem.
Your poem is so touching. The way you've turned emotion into art is on another level. Plus, your poem is like it is out of my heart. It is that I have experienced.
"Your pride might befriend your hatred, It's a dangerous combination." A powerful statement and a reminder that sometimes oneself is truly their own worst enemy. Late to the party, but congratulations, Ann, on your February top story!
