We the Wall

Poem.

I heard something that stuck in my head, as so many things do

Among the useless and trivial, the line that stood out to me

was “relatable, not debatable,” imagine that, a repeated mantra

That carries the weight of a thesis. relatable not debatable

Isn’t that what we all crave for, in this modern world we inhabit?

Contrary to popular belief and the fight-then-flight mentality

We the wall want to feel that warm fuzz of belonging, the home

Home away from home, home in the comforting buxom bosom

of those who feel the same way and if they don’t, can do magic

The magic trick of empathy. Since when did empathy become magic?

Noun: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another

Not rocket science, is it? Or are we socios, psychos on spectrums

Well, I am

We the wall want to feel that warm fuzz of belonging, the home, engagement

Don’t we?

Cliché after cliché, cache, cache, c-space-ch for something verbose

-

Allegorical or Algeria? Algebra or Albania? Azerbaijan or Analgesic?

Anabolic or analytic? deride or dilute? The US of the A or the U dot K dot?

-

Emdash 00 — coded fixation on what normal means, debatable or retaliate-able?

When empathy became a magic parlour trick was when the self overtook

The self overtook the others, biting and gnashing,

Like Komodo,

Our young are fed to a system

That will set them aside for glory or throw them to the

Kerb,

Curb,

or sidewalk edge

-

Cache cache,

Make it debatable,

Make it delete-able,

We all are dispensable

Questions that I ask myself often- usually left unanswered but still worth asking. A lot of truth in there as well. I just loved this, Paul. Amazing work as always!

You wrote a poem that is very debatable and relatable to many facets of living our lives. Good job.
