We, The Resilient

i cradle my hurting neighbors through poetic verse and memes

attempt to soothe my own despair by walking the dog

sometimes outside feels less scary

but that's a privilege i am well aware of

like the color of my skin and how i can easily pass if need be

or how the country i live in isn't run by a tyrant with a growing death list

my heart aches for all the victims of this system

that only seeks to reinforce itself

out of fear, out of inhumanity, out of shits & giggles

oh how i wish it were all just one big gag

that the orders being executed were stupid pranks and one day (soon)

we'll just hear a "just kidding!" announcement and everything wouldn't be in a constant state of snowball effect

we must stand together

a united front against this rolling toxic wrecking ball headed straight towards us

we must confront it and fight back

dismantle piece by piece

to defund it of its power

because at the end of the day

the system cannot function without us

and so,

we must fight back, dismantle, rebuild, for a more just and kind world

and look out for one another

because you never know when

you might be next

I agree – we need to stand together and fight for a better, kinder world. It's hard, but we can't stay silent, and we must look out for each other. 💪

your poem speaks to a strange new reality - perhaps media has taken over control. I do hope there is some ability to fight over the strange machinery that can control thoughts regarding acceptance of colour, gender, faith, and also counts the votes.

It’s been so hard to find the words for what’s been going on lately. You did a really great job of that here. Congrats on the well-deserved top story.

I held on tightly to them last night trying to hold back tears as I wondered how this toxic POS will affect their marriage. They are the most loving men I know and now, their happiness is at stake. I spoke with Ed who wondered how he can hide the color of his skin. Anita said her medication cost just escalated and she can no longer afford it. Unfortunately, we are all in the same boat, but we hold onto each other and try to enjoy the friendships we've built, while we're still able to do just that.

Such an important message. This was so good Oneg. I think we're in a hell of a mess right now. A lot of people support these polices and celebrate the oppression of others. I don't understand why anyone would want to deliberately hurt other people, but here we are. Anyway... this was excellent. I hope one day, we'll look back on this period and be relieved it's all in the past.

Rolling toxic wrecking ball is right. Important message. ✊

  • Exactly - never know who will be next. Stupid white men- Michael Moore's older book, has me thinking what if the likes of Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos and the Cheeto were herded into a field like cattle, surrounded by electric fences and forced to only listen and talk to each other? They would become aggressive and one by one kill off one other. I want to dream about karma.
