My spouse plays,
hours of video games,
it's his daily ritual,
which I hate,
I call it a shame.
In my ideal world,
he’d be reading a novel,
digging the garden,
teaching the kids,
going for a daily walk,
learning about flora and fauna,
but he prefers sitting
on his swivel chair,
in front of the flickering monitor,
like an addict.
I hate the sight,
I don’t even enter the room,
where he plays
and whiles away,
precious time of his life.
But then I think—
what if he spent time in a bar,
came home drunk,
what if he lied,
he had extra work
and did characterless things?
What if...?
So if he’s home,
enjoying his game,
if he says,
it cleans cobwebs,
from his IT brain—
let him play.
If it's not hampering me,
if it's not detrimental,
to him,
let him play
I tell myself.
Note: What is your view towards playing video games? It’s just a waste of time to me.
