It was a completely ordinary blue with just a hint of gray
much like my experiences
This hue of blue covered my childhood home
A child helping her mother bake
the walls that closed in when I was told my father had passed
the photo backdrop for my senior prom
the color reflected in my tears of joy after opening my college acceptance letter
the blue surrounding my mother’s face the last time I saw her
Many of life’s important moments are so intertwined with this hue of blue
that when I see it
my mind takes a trip down memory lane
All of the pieces that have made me who I am
were tied into this hue of blue
And today as I stare into a blustery PNW sky
I feel that I am home
