The Honor

Pink or blue, I love you.

By Nicole KnodtPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I’ll carry your cells in my blood

I can still feel you

No one got to know you

No one else got to hold you

It’s an honor to have had you here

I imagined you a hundred ways

But will never know

who you’d have become

I touch the pink side of the ribbon

Envision pony tails

fairies and mermaids

I touch the blue side

Envision a train

and dinosaur roars

Would you have played the piano?

Would you have loved the water?

Would you have made the world the gentler place?

Or led others to greatness with your bold spirit?

I wear this ribbon to honor you

But pink or blue

what you were

and are

Is loved

heartbreak
