Universal Conundrum

A poem.

By Zachary LewisPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Like a new star born of desperation and mayhem you graced this Earth with your butterfly winged eyelashes and your haunting aroma of sweet honey as your tracers are left behind in a gorgeous distraction from reality.

Light refracted in every direction when the sun spilt its’ bleeding rays upon your figure, and yet you took no time to appreciate all the universe gave up just for you.

In anguish, the universe screamed and shook with all its infinite might just for once, you’d appreciate the beauty it gave to you, but no matter the antic, you were too stubborn to peel away your binds on life and look up with gratitude. Too stubborn to whisper a “thank you.”

So now here you are, bloody and broken on the floor before me, pleading with those big ocean eyes to let you live! But I shall not be so easy to be captivated by your beauty. I grab your face in a comforting embrace and feel your hot skin radiate passionate grace one last time, and dig my blade into your stubborn heart.

The universe is heartbroken to see you go, but if you were meant to live, the universe would not have made me.
