Tomorrows

Surrendering One's Will

By Dan R FowlerPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Tomorrows

On bated breath I venture forth,

To my unknown destination an unknown course.

It seems to me that there is no end,

Whether traveling alone or with a friend.

That yonder star, the one I seek,

Asks little of me other than to be meek.

On knees humbled, bowing my soul,

I yearn to peek beyond the veil that is so cold.

Seldom do others join my quest,

Staying only moments, they refuse the test.

For to see into tomorrow takes all that I am,

To keep going, keep hoping, believing as I can.

My tomorrows are limited, shorter than yesterday,

When life was unending, children at play.

From stumbling youth to uncertain adult,

Praying daily, crying often, heaven to consult.

Being tattered and torn eyes filled with tears,

I take time to be grateful for all of my years.

Marking time as some have often said,

Is a waste of one’s gift, refusing to be led.

And after all is said and done,

T’was to this end I know I will come.

Saying goodbye washed over by grief,

Surrendering tomorrows to others,

Accepting my release.
