I Wish

Across the Divide

By Dan R FowlerPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I Wish

It’s one moment in time that I see,

A brief expose’, a gentle soul’s plea.

To walk and share just once more,

A word or memory, perhaps some lore.

Tattered remnants of life lost in time,

Breezes blowing tapestry of a simpler kind.

Reminiscing of mosaics of broken promises,

Made during storms, now lay as unfinished buttresses.

With shallow wishes upon crippled lips cry,

Of yesterday’s warmth, my parchment now void and dry.

Beleaguered sorrows yearning to be cast aside,

Of this life’s inequality, this day in which I abide.

T’was just a brief wink of the eye of eternity,

Those turned-up smiles prompting love’s affinity.

Until alas, calls unending, for those an answer required,

Leaving behind hearts torn asunder seeking to be inspired.

I bade you farewell from this place, this sphere,

Yet in my night’s travels your faces are clear.

It’s in that moment between here and there,

That I catch glimpses of how much you care.

So, walk with me beside the partition that divides,

And reach out to share, it is you who decides.

For I wait as others have done in the past,

To speak once more with eyes downcast.
