Time to Play

song and poem by Lolly Vieira

By Lolly VieiraPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

well maybe the tides are changing

and maybe I should keep playing around

and let my inner child out

I’ve become so serious

the world feels like a cage and I’m delirious

been stuck in a rut

goin’ crazy like a nut

I know that things would change if I could listen to my gut

so maybe I’m to blame?

well maybe the tides are changing

and maybe I should keep playing around

and let my inner child out

well maybe my mind is changing

and maybe I’ll just keep making these sounds

and let the inner music out

what is the point of this misery

I’m trying to rid myself of my animosity

been anxious and sad

and I wonder if I’m mad

I know that my heart’s good

but my decisions are bad

am I the one to blame?

well maybe the times are changing

and maybe I should keep playing around

and let my inner child out

well maybe my mind is changing

and maybe I’ll just keep making these sounds

and let the inner music out

walking on eggshells and falling through the ice

I’ve lived my whole life just trying to be nice

but I think I need more

I see answers at my door

been blind for so long with my head on the floor

is anyone to blame?

well maybe the tides are changing

and maybe I should keep playing around

and let my inner child out

so maybe love could change me

and maybe with faith I’ll take the leaps and bounds

bury my fear in the ground
