Time, is on My Side

Is it, is it really?!

Time, always displaying what a beast it is,

like a hunger, it always craves more.

Fine tuning your schedule like a well oiled machine,

Torn apart and rebuilt on the floor.

*

It has no regard for the weary,

if you’re weak, it will eat you alive.

Better get it all down in a planner,

while you’re at it, you’d better get five.

*

Learn to eat, sleep and work on the way there,

not a moment to sit and relax.

If it helps you feel better, go ahead, swear,

just do it while changing your pants.

*

Keep the momentum going, don’t slow down,

or you’ll be the next one on the list.

Of the things we need have have looked at,

one more thing that needs to be fixed.

*

One more reason that we all miss Mayberry,

sit on the porch, enjoying a coke.

We put on this pressure like polyester

and get upset when we dont get the joke.

*

Please, take a breath and remember,

you only have one life to live.

Don’t spend it chasing the dollar,

spend it out on the lawn with the kids.

*

No kids? Well, then take in a sunset,

a sunrise or two just won’t hurt

Enjoy the new day with your loved ones,

throw that schedule out in the dirt.

*

Smile, it’s all gonna be alright.

Smiling won’t cost you a dime.

Fit in the real things that matter,

take your life back one tick at a time.
