Thoughts of the Day

And my own thoughts in response.

Where are the tributes?

Where are the tears?

Have we really forgotten

In twenty-three years?

~

It's not been forgotten,

It's been pushed aside

While we hold on, white-knuckled

On this downhill ride.

~

Our world “leaders” posture

And threaten and warn

While treating their own with

Indifference and scorn.

~

And why would we threaten

A war no one wins?

Blame our own arrogance

On the day it begins.

~

No, we haven't forgotten,

We're caught in the fray

Of the world we've dismantled

And given away

~

While the rich became richer

By the sweat of our brows

And we gave up our freedoms

While they broke their vows.

~

So, what we have forgotten

Is, we have a choice

And it's time those in power

Feel the weight of our voice.

Beautiful poem, Dana. I've just watched a news report where Biden-Harris and Trump-Vance were standing in a memorial service, separated by Bloomberg. We are so much in the midst of the campaign, but we do remember. We had a moment of silence in all our classes today.

Beautifully said. It seems we've learned nothing, but yet we continue to hope.

Not too much at all. How could anything be too much, for what happened?
