The Weight of Winter
An Acrostic Poem by Keila Aartila
I’ve included this song Black Dove aka January Girl by Tori Amos because I love Tori Amos and this song and I’m also a January girl. (Link from Youtube)
The Weight of Winter
Jarred by the quiet passing of
Another year, I
Nod in celebration of the New,
Under false pretenses of self-care
And happiness;
Resolved to good intentions, but
Yearning for longer days.
`
Between the hours, I
Languish, repeatedly pulled
Underneath by frozen waves of winter;
Ever waiting for the thaw, knowing
Springtime isn’t too far away.
Thank you for reading! What do you do to chase the JANUARY BLUES away?

Wonderful!!! Simply wonderful!!!💖💖💕
I stay inside and catch up on projects around the house. Loved this poem and the song! They went well together
You should write a Calander
Beautiful, could not describe January better. ❤️

“Between the hours, I Languish, repeatedly pulled Underneath by frozen waves of winter;”. Ooooo. Love this 😍
Beautiful Winter and Seasonal Words
This was so beautiful!
Beautifully done. I too am waiting for spring.
This brought up very vivid images and emotions in just a few lines, well done :) I don't mind winter so much as a season, but I do get the shorter daylight hours blues. I try to keep up strings of yellow lights in different places in the house...the glow in the evening just soothes me :)
LOVE this. I, too, hold on to te thought that spring is not too far away. Well-done!
You did a nice job with this poem. Good job!!!
The music was a perfect fit and I loved the cadence of the poem. It totally draws you in!
