The Subway

the drain of the train

Tired boy leaning on the glass

Tired girl with bloodshot eyes

Tired woman in yellow with pained posture

Tired man with a coffee in his hands

Tired boy with his tired hound

Tired woman rocking back and forth

Tired woman with one eye open

Tired man with a gaze to the ground

Tired wheels that ache and groan

Tired sky the colour grey

Tired lights that shine on tired people,

tired one day then they’re gone.

The sleeping boy hits his head and gets off at his stop

The crying girl moves to another seat and gets off at her stop

The pained woman fixes her stance and gets off at her stop

The coffee man wants tea instead and gets off at his stop

The restless boy picks up his dog and gets off at their stop

The rocking woman finds her place and gets off at her stop

The cautious woman takes a breath and gets off at her stop

The dreaming man breaks through the fog and gets off at his stop

The solemn student sits alone stalking the people of her city
