The shade I'll create.

A poem about what colour defines me.

If a colour defined me

It would fall somewhere

Between the multitude of layers

Between black and white

The infinite shades of gray

Creating the shadows

And the dept of every part of my being

I wouldn’t use a colourful colour like yellow

Because although I love it

It feels unattainable

Like everything this life

Has put me through

Made it impossible to me to be

The green of tree leaves

The roses of flowers blooming

The blues of the nuanced sky

Or even the burnt orange of it’s sunsets

No matter what I do

What I preach

I am forever doomed

To a shade of grey

A dark and fiery cloud

Looming over my head

A constant reminder

That what I have lived

No human should go through

But as the years go by

The gray doesn’t seem so scary

It seems more and more moldable

And maybe, one day

I can create a shade
 with it

So unexpected

That it puts to shame all the other colours.
