The seduction of Colors

Each color a mood

What if our world were 'gothically', portentously gloomy, decked out in black and white.

A neutral world.

Without color.

It would still be a beautiful world.

Our creators, (whatever shape or form you construe them to be), made no mistake when adding beauty to the continuity of perceptive enjoyment.

They gave us colors!

The comforting cool, warmth and tender neutrality within the psychology of optical cognizance and illusion.

Color has the power to evoke stresses or strains, or peace and tranquility within your chosen space.

Yet; how would we experience the colors that we so desperately need to fulfill our waking moments?

Minnie Riperton sang "No one else can make me feel the colors that you bring", her heart had indeed touched a little bit of heaven. For only a heart that feels real and true love may know the ambrosial and nectareous taste of the exquisite joy and flavors of colors, inhaled, eyes closed in total bliss.

When one falls in love, you see, even through the thunderstorms, nothing but sunshine and a kaleidoscope of colors depicting the undulating ups and downs of emotions driving you on to euphoric longings.

When one loses love, the world becomes neutral, black and white. One wishes to hide from the cursed colors that remind one's soul that everyone else is happy, except me.

We need the colors as much as we need the neutrals. They all serve a purpose in their own unique way.

We are defined by the emotions evoked by our perception of colors in our lives.

Three categories define color. Warm. Cool. Neutral.

Warm colors

Red, yellow, orange and pink variations. Evocative of the sun's warmth and brightness, they convey optimism, enthusiasm and passion.

Cool colors

Green, blue, purple with variations of violet. Found everywhere in nature, they calm, relax and subdue.

Neutral colors

Brown, black, white and variations of grey. Earth tones, sophisticated and powerful on their own, loves to be paired with warm and cool colors.

Much like the moon, they wax and they wane, these lovely colors of life. A rainbowed kaleidoscope of beauty, visual and conceptual interchanging of light and shadow.

Yellow, when the sun shines ~ Cheerful and lighthearted

Blue, when the sky feels joy ~ Harmony is achieved

Green, when the fruits are giving ~ Wealth at our fingertips

Red, when the lightning roars ~ Passion, Anger and love unleashed

Pink, for many a girlish giggle ~ Femininity in it's pure form

Orange, for youth's optimism ~ Vibrant and energetic

Purple, majestic, royal, spiritual ~ Mystery and intrigue

Brown, grounded, wholesome, orderly ~ Honesty never undone

White, the simplicity within everything ~ Purity and newness

Black, bold, classic and mysterious ~ sophisticated and misunderstood

Multicolor, a mix within everything ~ Variety, the spice of life

 ~~~ ~~~
Colors stimulate the body and mind, circulation increases
Colors stimulate our nerves, body is purified
Colors heal our lungs, increases the energy of our lives
Colors soothe our pains and calms our harried imaginings
Walk with me within the comfort gleaned within a rainbow
Within the prism of sunshine, light and rain intermingled
Nature's miracle unfolding in all it's wonderous bliss
It is midnight, the color dark wishes me a comforting goodnight.
"I tend to be of the opinion that God created colors with inherent properties that would draw out parts of His glory. That different colors themselves have inherent qualities that evoke peace, tranquility, hope, energy, excitement, and more. I believe God purposely placed calm, peaceful, soothing colors around us with the intention to purposely evoke emotions of peace, of tranquility, and of His beauty. I think that is why it is universally acknowledged that “going for a walk,” or “spending time outdoors” will help clear your mind, refocus you on a peaceful path, and generally lift your spirits". A quote by Christine Olmstead on CEO.
The universe has blessed us by imbuing us with a nuanced psychology hidden within the message and gift of colors. We use them to cope with life every day. We take them for granted because they are always there, have always been there.
We all will see colors differently, in tones, hues and shades, our personalities and perceptions differ from one individual to the next. Some people see only the neutral aspect of our world, some are color blind, but no matter the circumstance, they are just as integral a part of the overall makeup of who we all are.
  • Wowww! This was phenomenal! I had no idea that colours have a role in the physiology of humans. I love how you connected nature and its colours which help us feel much better. This poem is like all the colours spoke to you and you wrote their words. Beautiful! I loved it!
