Why restrict ourselves

To the constraints of haikus?

Why not use rare sedokas?

We forgot and so

We restrict ourselves, until

Someone recites them again.

A sedoka is a style of Japanese poetry consisting of two stanzas with three lines each and a syllable count of 5-7-7 or 5-7-5. It is called a sedoka (a poem where the head is repeated) because the first line is repeated. The nature of this style of poetry is believed to be a recitation of a question and answer between two lovers. More information about sedokas can be found here.

I've not heard of this form before! I love the call and response and how you answered your own question. I'll have to look into more forms of Japanese poetry now. Thank you for sharing!
