The Quiet Between Words

But, is the silence actually killing me?

Oh, mama...

Why do you do this to me?

Why do you think I deserve your silent treatment?

Why do you give me more quiet,

Than words?

Dad says he's used to it...

What with all the mistakes he's done.

Sis isn't even near to feel the wrath

Your silent treatment brings.

But here I am..

Trying to get you to speak out

Release the unspoken emotions.

So that, maybe, just maybe

I can share some of mine, too.

My silent moments with my spouse

And now your silent moments with me.

As though, you're punishing me.

I suppose you are, because...

You never really think I'm on your side.

You never really take my side, either.

So while I'm trying to bloom understanding

In spaces between the words,

I drown in misery

Of your silence...

I try to be the bigger person

To fill the spaces with laughter

An anecdote of my boring day

A conversation about food (because why not?)

But I don't get much.

Am I cursed to a life

Of only giving, mum?

Because it seems to be a common pattern

That you don't want to help me break.

Sigh...

*walks back home

Here we go again.

I so deeply understand You and feel its the worst kind of a treatment so many of us experience firstly from family members and the whole virtual world of harmful individuals mostly when we try to entirely help the cruel ones they trap us even deeper into it and if not healed on a daily basis it brings so much pain and frustration and all these terrible patterns that are bringing us even more despair but still You are here so courageous to write to share the truth that heals every other reader who go through the same harmful pattern of silent treatment from another You are a Hero ! and a warrior and sharing truth is a real healing step towards the suffering and pain that breaks us when We give love and get a silent but in some days You will gain Love and rebuild Yourself again and again I am sending You healing vibes of purest energy to clean Your mind and body from these all experiences and much Love for everyday ! and of course Congratulations on Top story !

Damn I can feel the despair and the frustration! You really want to break the negative cycle but can't. Because the other person won't listen. But what can we do...we love them despite these issues/habits... Great piece and congrats! πŸ™‚

It's probably a cultural thing because its familiar for sure. We can't be responsible for other people though. Honor them because they birthed us, and you don't even have to like them, to honor them. Their purpose was to be used as a vessel for your entrance into this world, you, who touches other peoples' lives in ways you might not even be aware of.

  • Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! πŸŽ‰πŸ’–πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸ’–πŸŽŠ

Such a sea of longing here. I can feel the tide of loneliness creeping out, leaving you alone on a deserted shore. Great job conveying the emotion in such a realistic stream of consciousness poem. πŸ’•

  • Oh no, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it is πŸ₯Ί
