Lucky Are Those..

It's time to be grateful.

Lucky are those who

Have people to rely on

Lucky are those who

Don't need to go far for support...

I always tell myself,

I'm not a bitter person

I don't compete with others

Because I know everyone has their own path.

I do look at others

For inspiration, motivation, guidance

But this time I find myself looking at others

And having resentment, envy, bitterness

Because why do I not have what they do?

A shoulder to cry on.

Someone to help.

Someone to lean on.

Heck, someone to even talk to.

I know, for a fact, though, that this is my own doing.

Because I've been lucky in many other aspects

I have a roof, food, family, and kind people around me

I may not have a best best friend

But I have myself.

I'm able-bodied, healthy, mentally fit

My issues are trivial compared to those

Who face war, famine, effects of climate change.

So who am I to say I'm unlucky?

I don't have what I crave right now

But I have a lot more to go around.

So lucky I am...

To be able to share what I have

With others.

Lucky I am...

To be able to still function everyday.

Lucky I am...

For I still have it in me to perservere

And do things

That other people dream to do.

Thank you.

Excellent looking at the positive side instead of the negative. Very inspirational poem. Love it ♥️

A well-wrought expression of gratitude and melancholy. I often experience such myself. Fortune is a wheel that turns; the game: roulette. I found myself more fulflled when I left the wheel and the game to others, but that's just me. Neither the bouncing ball nor the turning wheel will grant insight, for the game moves too fast to allow for self-reflection. I sincerely wish for insight and true joy to grow in your life!

I knew you would come full circle - it was just a matter of time. Close that gap girl - if it has a beginning, it will have an end:) I can only imagine how wonderful your poems will be to read next year this time...
