The Night Sky

A Poem by Emily

By Emily FitzgeraldPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Empty, oh I feel so empty.

But within the same moment I have never felt so full.

Staring into the pitch-black sky,

Watching as the stars twinkle up oh so high.

The lonely feeling of a huge empty canvas only scattered with light,

But the complete feeling of having the galaxy in your eyes.

The nighttime can truly be so bright,

Especially when I share it with you.

A boring night sky suddenly seems so blue.

It isn’t filled with darkness but a new stunning navy color.

I’ve found a friend within you and the sky.

Both make me feel happy and whole.

I find myself staring at the beauty that is you.

Then I go back to the beauty of the sky.

But once we sit out for hours the light begins to shine.

The sun begins to show its face,

Empty, oh I feel so empty.
