It was when I stopped yearning for you to say my name,
It was when I stopped waiting for you,
It was when I stopped hoping you’d learn what you lost,
It was when seeing you didn’t have any control over me anymore,
It was when I cleaned up the ashes you left after you ignited me, and planted sunflowers to grow in place of you.
It was when they began to bloom.
It was when I realized you cannot own me, like you once did.
It was when I, piece by piece, put myself together again.
That I started to love myself.
