the lie

of love

By angela hepworthPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

take your things and go before I snap

the serpent reared its ugly head

I never even knew you

and no one ever will

you are fraudulent

you’re cold and cruel

terrifying

you’re a

lie

Just a little leftover piece from the Breakup Nonet Challenge that I didn’t use because I had two four syllable phrases! God, I wrote so many of these 😂

Thanks for reading!

Fierce tone! Liked the use of “fraudulent”!

The serpent image is such a good one for lies as its so recognisable. Intense!

Agree with Dharrsheena about being a lie rather than a liar, like they're more slippery because truth doesn't figure at all.

    S9 powerful

  • I love the idea of them being a lie instead of a liar. That just adds so much more depth!

Such a strong decent in syllables, each line feels like a punch! Hope they left for good! Great work! 🩷 I also wrote way too many nonets haha! (only posted four, but wrote more ...) all mine were one-sided breakups of relationships that never happened ..,
