The Hourglass

A poem about time

Tick-tock goes the clock

Winding its hands away.

If clocks had fingers

They would be pointing to all the important memories

We should be holding on to.

Reminding us that as time passes

Opportunities do too.

I wish I could wind you backwards

Take away some mistakes

Fix lost time

Change certain outcomes.

I wish I could bottle you up and preserve you

Like my grandma did her jam.

I wish you were innumerous

Like the stars in the sky

Or the sand in an hourglass

So when I saw you're running out

I could just flip you over and start again.

But alas you are finite and unforgiving

So moments in time I shall learn to cherish.

This has as very important message. I love the mix of metaphors used here; they work together very well. Great job.
