Broken Promises

A poem

What do you do

When the trust you give

Gets broken out of the blue?

Not by a lover

Not by a friend

No but it's someone close

That hurts you in the end.

They are supposed to be protectors

Supposed to be guides

They are supposed to be

Somewhere safe you can hide.

That trust was deep

I thought it was true

Maybe that's why it hurt so bad

When you broke it in two.

You told me, a promise you keep

I guess those were just words though

Bet you didn't lose any sleep.

If I had to guess

Off how you're acting

You're really just fine

So it's me left to my own devices

And losing my mind.
