Neighborhood fun

In the wind’s gentleness and the afternoon sun

Neighborhood children, gather for a game of fun

With boundless joy and spirits high

Bats and ball and eager to run.

Amidst the lush green trees, a whispered call

A dirt road, their playing ground, standing tall

They swung their bats and reached for the sky

The aim for another is to catch that ball.

But mischief smile in the fun-filled breeze

As the ball took turns and wild degrees

An accident cries and pleading eyes

Breaking windows, now that was unforeseen.

Into the bushes, it went like a stray

Lost in the tangle, a quick find they pray

A search party formed, strong and brave

To retrieve the ball, not too long a stay

With giggles and whispers, they carried on

The time well spent, on them it dawned

The evening sun began to wane

They gathered for dinner, a circle on the lawn.

They're embraced by the fading light

To bid farewell their hearts did fight

They headed home, with hearts sincere

Thinking of tomorrow's play, their hopes alight.
