The Curve of the Surface
Tensions are Rising

inhale
Fall below the surface
Weightless
Far below the surface
Flying free
From life’s three ring circus
Undersea
Crushing expanse of darkness
No footholds
Nor purchase
You start to feel worthless
Then you see it
You see a shimmer of light
Just out of sight
So you float back up to see it
You’re running out breath
You don’t think you’ll make it
Scared to death
That this is the time!
The tension is rising,
The stillness subsiding,
Release without warning,
As the water comes pouring
Off your face!
And you feel the light shine
Just to prevail!
You were the light the whole time, and
exhale

Whoa! This one took me diving deep literally and emotionally and then came up bursting into light like a triumphant splash! ✨
This is such a great entry, Amos! A wonderful take on the prompt. For some reason I was holding my breath while reading, lol. But the sense of urgency to rise and reach for the light, the flow of the lines - it's all glorious.
