The Christmas Miracle

As I closed up shop

And prepared to go home

I wondered what

I would tell my

Wife and kids

When I showed

Up empty-handed

With no gifts to give

This Holiday Season

Not one stocking stuffer

Not one gift card

Not one piece of candy

Not even a pair of socks

I’d no bonus this year.

My boss refused a raise.

The house payment was due.

Plus, the notes on both cars

Full coverage insurance

Takes a huge chunk

Little Billy just had to

Play football

Sarah went out for

Marching band

And Leslie Ann

Needed braces

With another kid

On the way

So I headed to my car.

With my head slumped.

Wishing that I had

Better news for my family

This Christmas Season

I started to consider

Not going home

For a moment

When what should

I behold, but my car

Stacked full of

Yuletide Cheer

For some kind

Santa had placed

Wrapped presents

And a turkey dinner

All inside my car while

I worked, leaving behind

Only one little note:

A challenging year

So very hard to

Make ends meet

I hope you don’t

Mine a little help

Here’s a little cash

To help pay a few bills
