The Ball

Under the Moon

By Andrew LudwigPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Fancy is the order of the day, in dress and manner

Unbound by inelegance are their steps as they whirled

Lightly they move to disjointed and grinding music

Ladies in their dresses, the picture of grace

Men with their ties, defining sophistication

On the well-worn floor under hell’s deceiving light

On their faces, screaming eyes and smiling lips

No care did they have for their fellow man

Introspection escaped them during in life, greed and hate set their steps

Now they dance in the devil’s ballroom, fiends watch through moonlit glass

Heaven denied with their partners in their arms

Empathy will set their soul to rest

Linked in torment

Lost in self-loathing
