Tea Time Comforts

with my Mother

A low vibration

shakes my world

and hold me prisoner

to the sounds and movements in the world.

******

Shifts around me

either stabilizing

Or uprooting

my stability to effectively function.

******

Washer whirring

Chugging away

dishwasher splashing

and licking the food away from the plates.

*****

Television providing

daily depressing news

Phone chimes

an announcement of yet another email notice.

******

Water

Cup and tea

hurriedly placed to heat

as a weapon against the whirling world.

******

Water spins

microwave dings

letting me know

my tea is ready and steeping.

******

A tug

of a fall jacket

plop of a lap blanket

On my arm will be warm protection for you and me.

******

click, screeching

metal door swinging

open to a spot

on the deck where mother use to sit.

******

Fall air

creeping in the coolness

of the season

Mom's beloved cardinal chirps and rest on the feeder.

******

Side table moved

two cups and saucers set on it.

Honey? Mother?

Let's have a mother daughter talk.

******

One person,

alone sitting,

Is never alone

in the comfort of a loved one's memory.

******

Here's your

Blanket, tea, daughter

basking in your memory

feeling comfort knowing that you are there in spirit.

******

Mom

You're my place of comfort.

You may be gone

But I still feel you in our silent moments.

******

Sit here

with me mother

as I think about life

and what you would have said to me.

******

Words

of comfort come to me

on the breeze that washes by

me on the twist and turns of the breeze.

******

Unspoken words

yet known

because I learned how to comfort

I learned how to give that gift by example.

******

Mother,

Thank you

for the wonderful example

on how to provide comfort to others by giving them valuable time.

******

A warm

sip of liquid gold

felt like a warm comforting hug

Just like always and I smiled at you and enjoyed the sweetness we shared.
