social commentary
There's a rich history of poetry serving as social commentary, intended to inspire calls to action.
"The Era I Was Born To"
Women were strong and knew their worth. Men spit game, but always meant what they said. Children had real role models. Love in music matched real life. Fashion was fierce and everyone had a statement. Life was hard, but no one complained. Everyone had dreams and pursued them. Fresh princes and unforgettable Cartoons. Everyone connected deeper than flesh. Music had purpose, everyone did. I may have been born near the end, but the blood of the 90s runs through these veins and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
