Under My Desk

The Epidemic of School Shootings

By Raye NatashaPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

My heart is still continuing to race

Tears are streaming down my face

The door is locked

I hear a shot

Suddenly my classmate is not

I hold my breath

My strength is being put to the test

I am begging to god, please

I begin to freeze

The door handle moved

Theres a problem in this county that is proved

I don't want to lose

I did not choose

Can I refuse

To be used

My name will be in headlines for a week

Then everyone will again sleep

on the ideas there need to be change

that society must be rearranged

that our children our dying

and our planet is crying

pollution fills the air

and the treatment of people is not fair

our country is not the best

not as I must hide under my desk

Mass shooting have become normalized in America.
